Biography

After telling her mom she was “bored,” April Genthe started Suzuki violin lessons at age five.  She studied privately with Siew-Eng Goh and was a member of the Elmbrook Chamber Ensemble.  April attended the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha with a major in music education.

April started her career as a violin teacher at the Waukesha County Conservatory of Music in 1998.  She has taken Suzuki Violin Teacher Training through the American Suzuki Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

April is registered with the Suzuki Association of the Americas Books 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Suzuki Violin Method.  She believes that a teacher must always strive to become better every day through self-evaluation, training from knowledgeable teachers and performing.  She attended the American Suzuki Institute’s 40th Anniversary year in August 2010 where she took the Suzuki Book 4 Teacher Training Course with Edmund Sprunger.

April is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas, the Lake Country Music Club, and the Wisconsin Federation of Music Clubs. She’s married to Jon, has three children of her own and two bonus sons, and a sweet dog named Susie. She is no longer "bored."
